The First UU Society Meeting House is centrally located in downtown Burlington – It’s what everyone sees when they look up Church Street! There are several excellent rooms for events.
Our building is accessible and is located near city parking and public transportation.
Our Sanctuary seats up to 500 people and is the perfect setting for your Vermont wedding. We can provide you with a ceremony coordinator to assist in making sure your time spent here is handled to perfection. You need the perfect place and all the help you can get for your wedding!

We offer several meeting spaces that seat from five to 50 people comfortably. Need a centrally-located place for your group to meet? We’re the perfect place! Please email Mary at email@example.com or call (802) 862-5630 ext. 21 to request a space in our Meeting House.
Our Sanctuary is a much sought-after venue for concerts and talks of all kinds. We have a state-of-the-art amplification system and can connect easily to a computer or iPad. Our Sanctuary is a lovely space for a memorial service. To schedule a memorial service, please email Christina at email@example.com.
The Sanctuary seats a maximum of 500 people, but can also be the perfect setting for smaller groups by limiting use to the first floor or only the inner pews. This room is equipped with a newly rebuilt organ, a baby grand piano and a sound system that can accommodate playing cd’s or iPods. The pulpit can be rolled away to leave a large open space in the front for wedding ceremonies or performers.
The Parlors is one large room that can accommodate up to 80 people standing or sitting in chairs. The room can accommodate about 25 people seated at tables. The room is on the first floor and located near the restrooms and near access to the outdoors. The room is decorated with period furniture and historic photographs.
Susan B. Anthony Room
This room is a nice size room with lots of large windows. It is carpeted and has several stuffed chairs at one end and a place for tables at the other end. There is a sink and counter that is perfect for coffee and food service. This room is on the second floor, but is accessible by elevator. It can hold up to 60 people seated in folding chairs or fewer if seated at tables.
Sophia Fahs Community Room
This large room is located in our basement and is accessible by elevator. It can accommodate about 60 people seated at tables and more standing or sitting in chairs. This room has an attached kitchen and several small adjacent classrooms that work well for break-out sessions.
James Reeb Room
This is a small, comfy room that is furnished with three large sofas. It works well for small meetings that want to provide a casual feel. It can accommodate about 10 people.
We have several small classrooms. They seat from 5 to 15 people. The rooms in the main building are accessible by elevator. Two of the classrooms are located in a nearby building on the second floor and are not accessible by elevator. Most of these rooms are furnished with a table and chairs.
Scheduling Space for Internal Meetings & Events
If you would like to reserve space in our Meeting House for an internal First UU Society meeting or event, please click on the link below and complete the information. Mary will send you a confirmation email once your event is confirmed on our calendar. Please do not advertise your event until you have received confirmation.
If you have reserved space in our building for an event or a meeting and you need to cancel, please contact us as soon as possible.
