First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington

These are exciting times! Building Bridges delves into world religions, one of our UU sources, through experiential learning. Our Whole Lives explores human relationships and sexuality. Coming of Age explores the depths of life’s meaning and YUUth Group provides community service, furthers social justice, plays together and confides deeply in one another.

Seventh Grade

Through Building Bridges our seventh graders experience the beliefs, worship, and rituals of a diverse mix of nearby faith communities. They do this through many field trips as well as hosting guests, all of which gives them a wider context for understanding their UU faith. Enroll in Building Bridges

Eighth Grade

Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a lifespan curriculum for comprehensive sexuality education, and we offer the middle school module to our eighth graders every year. Because of its high value and demand, we offer it beyond the membership of First UU. All interested must complete an application process.

Ninth – Twelfth Grade

Religious Education at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of BurlingtonNinth graders engage in our Coming of Age Program, which serves as a rite of passage by inviting them to grapple with Ultimate Questions. The program concludes with an off-site retreat where they develop their Credos (statements of personal belief) which are shared in a service of worship and recognition of their accomplishments.  Enroll in Coming of Age

Our Yuuth Group focuses on social justice projects, some worship (and worshipful) activities, and plenty of food, fun, and bonding time. This group receives support and guidance from staff, adult advisors and our Youth Ministry Advisory Team. Enroll in YUUth Group

We welcome youth participation in all areas of congregational life. They help lead worship, some sing in our choir, they assist in children’s classes, stand up for justice issues, contribute to pastoral care, and serve on several teams and committees.
