Small Group Ministry

Join a Small Group!

thinking womanSmall Group Ministry is a national Unitarian Universalist Association movement and has been part of the First UU Society of Burlington for thirteen years. Participation provides a chance to explore spirituality while meeting in small groups with other members of the congregation. The program is not intended as a therapy group but does offer support as well as the opportunity to reach a deeper level of openness with other members of the congregation.

Groups to Choose From

Right now, there are nine groups that meet for two hours twice a month. Each group has from eight to ten members. Joining a group carries a commitment to attend meetings regularly and actively listen to others. Potential members may visit a group before committing to join.

A Time or Topic

There are a variety of groups to choose from. Different groups meet different people's needs. Because they meet at different times, that is often a major deciding factor. Some groups, however, carry a theme that may interest you.  Parenting, humanism and creativity are some of the themes. Other groups are more general.

Updated lists of the groups are posted on a bulletin board outside the main office. To join a group, contact Nina Buss at
