YUUTH Group

Social justice and community service are core activities for our high school YUUth Group.

Serving periodic pancake brunches and lasagna on New Year’s Eve raises funds for them to participate in a week long service trip each year. Past trips have taken them to Washington, DC and to New York City with Youth Service Opportunities Project, and to Brooklyn with the UU College of Social Justice. Recently on Cape Cod they helped restore the coastal ecology by removing invasive species.

Locally, they have cooked meals for ANew Place, a homeless shelter; Dismas House, a home for recently incarcerated women; and the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. In their Standing on the Side of Love tee shirts, they join in walks, marches and rallies in support of climate activism, workers’ rights, LGBTQ acceptance and racial justice.
